Posting Guidelines
These guidelines help keep DealSnap useful for everyone. Good posts help other shoppers save money, here's how to make yours great.
What makes a good post
- Include the product name in the title so people know what they're clicking on. The retailer is detected automatically from the link.
- Add the price, and the original price if it's discounted, so people can see the saving.
- Include a working link directly to the deal on the retailer's site.
- Write a brief description: why is this a good deal? Is it a price match? Lowest ever? Limited time?
- Choose the right category: deal, coupon, or freebie (see below).
- Add an image if possible, as posts with images get more attention.
Choosing the right type
- Deal: a product or service at a reduced price, with or without a coupon for that individual product.
- Coupon: a discount code or voucher that can be used against a range of products on a retailer's site, not just an individual product.
- Freebie: something genuinely free. Free samples, free trials, buy-one-get-one-free offers, and similar.
What's not allowed
- Affiliate or referral links: post direct links to the retailer only.
- Undisclosed self-promotion: if you have a commercial interest in a deal, you must say so.
- Misleading titles or inflated discounts: don't claim "90% off" when it isn't. Be honest about the saving.
- Duplicate deals: search before posting to check if someone has already shared it.
- Adult content, illegal items, or counterfeit goods.
- Spam or low-effort posts: every post should offer real value to the community.
Moderation
Posts that don't follow these guidelines may be edited or removed. We try to be fair. If your post needs a small fix, we'll usually make the edit rather than removing it entirely.
Repeated or serious violations may result in your account being restricted.
If your post was removed and you're not sure why, please get in touch and we'll explain.
Tips for great posts
- Check the price is still live before posting, as deals can change quickly.
- Mention delivery costs if they're significant.
- If it's a limited-time deal, say when it ends.
- Compare to the usual price if you can: "Usually £49.99, now £29.99" is much more helpful than just "£29.99".
